Public Transport
Our Public Transport Team in partnership with the public transport operators aim to secure an integrated public transport network that meets the needs of the community and visitors. The County Council provides financial support on some bus services throughout North Yorkshire.
In some towns and villages there are demand responsive services operating. In general these services can be found where there is not a scheduled bus service and will only run when people need them. In most cases they must be booked in advance. You can find more details on these services by putting DR in the route number search.
The County Council produces three explorer travel guides that cover the whole of North Yorkshire. These guides show bus routes, service description and contact details for the operator. If you would like to request a travel guide complete your address details and we’ll post them to you. Alternatively these guides are available at Libraries and Tourist information Centres. We also provide a timetables by post service for people who do not have access to the internet.
We want to make using local bus services easier and part of this is making information easy to find. Use the links at the bottom of the page for details of live travel news and to plan journeys alternatively visit www.transportdirect.info.
